This is a cost effective solution for adapting your new Mini-DisplayPort equipped laptop to your current display with HDMI input – HDTV, Projector, Mini-DisplayPort is a miniaturized version of DisplayPort, the newest digital display interface developed by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA). Most newer Macbook series laptops come equipped with the Mini DisplayPort interface for external video displays. Please check your laptop to make sure it has the Mini DisplayPort connection. *NOTE* AUDIO: This adapter will support audio only if your source device allows audio output through the Mini DisplayPorts interface. Audio Support:
The computer must support audio over the Mini DisplayPort. To find out if your Apple computer does, go to System Profiler (option-click the Apple menu, System Profiler…), click the audio tab, and under the outputs should be listed: “HDMI / DisplayPort Output.”
If your computer supports the audio via the Mini DisplayPort, you must select your TV as the output device. To do this, either option-click the audio menu icon and select it under “Audio Device:,” or go to System Preferences (Apple menu -> System Preferences) -> Sound -> Output and select it.
